St. Hilaire Leads Pride Track & Field At Tufts Snowflake Invitational

MEDFORD, Mass. - Fatima St. Hilaire (Danvers, Mass.) had herself quite a day, winning the women's long jump (5.31m) and placing fourth in the 100 meter dash (13.26 seconds) to highlight several strong individual showings by the Regis (Mass.) track and field teams Saturday in the Tufts Snowflake Classic at the Clarence "Ding" Dussault Track.

St. Hilaire added a 28th place finish (28.13 seconds) in the 200 meter dash for the Pride who finished 10th overall in the 21-team field. ChiChi Akanegbu (North Easton, Mass.) won an event of her own, winning the hammer throw with a top distance of 46.02 meters.

The women's events also saw Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) place 25th (19:54.04) in the 5000 meter run with Faith Montgomery (Abington, Mass.) finishing in the top 40 (1:08.23) of the 400 meter dash.

In addition to her top hammer finish, Akanegbu placed eighth (11.39m) in the shot put ahead of Liz Ksepka (Calais, Vt.) and Kate Cowden (Wilmington, Mass.) who placed ninth (11.25m) and 10th (11.14m), respectively, to make it three top 10 shot put marks for the Pride.

The men's side featured a pair of solid shot put performances as well with Daniel LaFlamme (Watertown, Conn.) and Frank Pelleteri (Freeport, Maine) placing fourth (13.06m) and fifth (12.95m), respectively. Also in men's throws, Taylor Garner placed fifth (41.65m) in the hammer throw and seventh (38.00m) in the discus.

Matthew Malone (Roxbury, Mass.) led the track events for the Pride, placing seventh in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.34 seconds. Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.) had a pair of solid performances, first a 29th-place finish in the 800 meter run (2:12.55) just behind Sean Toomey (28th, 2:11.27) (Salem, N.H.) then another top 30 place in the 1500 meter (4:24.40).

Next up for the Pride is the Regis Spring Classic hosted at the Regis Track & Field Complex this Friday, Apr. 6. Events are set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
