Five School Records Highlight Strong Showing for Track & Field

MEDFORD, Mass. - An unprecedented five school records were broken on Saturday as the Regis (Mass.) men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Stampede Invitational hosted by Tufts University.

Both the men's and women's weight throw school records fell on the day, as Daniel LaFlamme (Watertown, Conn.) and ChiChi Akanegbu (North Easton, Mass.) each broke their own marks. LaFlamme's throw of 14.33 meters bested his school record throw from two weeks ago, when he had a throw of 14.06 at the Reggie Poyau Invitational. LaFlamme also qualified for the DIII New England Championships with the throw. Akanegbu smashed her own record with a throw of 14.14 meters, beating her mark of 13.39 from December 2 at the UMass Boston Invitational.

In other throwing results, junior Elliana Boebel (Bedford, Mass.) threw a personal best in the weight throw with a throw of 11.78 meters. In the shotput, senior Kate Cowden (Wilmington, Mass.) and Akanegbu placed fifth and seventh, respectively.
