Pride Advance to Semifinals of GNAC Women’s Tennis Tourney

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College advanced to the semifinals of the 2019 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament, defeating University of St. Joseph, 5-0, Wednesday afternoon in a first round match at the Regis Tennis Center.

The Pride swept the doubles sets, starting at number one doubles with Carly Donovan (Harwich, Mass.) and Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) cruising to an 8-0 victory. The other two Regis doubles teams posted the same 8-3 score, as Ginger Boodakian (Burlington, Mass.) and Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) won at number two doubles and Kaitlyn Colby (Merrimac, Mass.) and Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) prevailed at number three doubles.

The veterans handled Regis' business in the singles competition, starting with a straight-set victory for Donovan at number one singles, as she did not drop a game all day (6-0, 6-0). McCormack ended the match by completing her straight-set win (6-1, 6-0) at number two singles.

Regis (9-2), the third seed in the tournament, will face second seed Eastern Nazarene in the second semifinal Saturday, Oct. 19, scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. The Lions narrowly defeated the Pride earlier this season, 5-4, in a contest that began on Sept. 14 before being halted by rain and resuming Sept. 16.
