Women’s Tennis Earns First Victory of Spring Season

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Regis College women's tennis team got back on the winning track Tuesday evening, defeating King's College 8-1 in a collegiate dual match at the Oak Street Park Community Center.

The match started with the singles contests, and Regis was able to take the quick lead thanks to a straight-set victory from Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.). After the Monarchs tied the match at 1-1, the Pride took the lead for good with a straight-set victory at number two singles by Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.), who like Jarvis lost only one game in her match.

Ginger Boodakian (Burlington, Mass.) picked up her second super-tiebreaker victory in as many days, and Kaitlyn Colby (Merrimac, Mass.) made her collegiate debut with a straight-set win at number six singles. Regis clinched the overall match when Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) pulled out a straight-set victory at number four singles, earning a tiebreaker win in the first set before taking the second set, 7-5.

The Pride swept the doubles sets, starting with Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Kaeleigh FitzPatrick (South Windsor, Conn.) completing an 8-3 victory at third doubles. Katelyn Mogelnicki teamed with Carly Donovan (Harwich, Mass.) to win at second doubles, 8-1, followed by an 8-4 win at first doubles by Jarvis and McCormack.

Regis (9-5) is off until Thursday, March 7, facing the Concordia College Cobbers from Minnesota starting at 10 a.m.
