Women’s Tennis Earns Victory Against Simmons

BOSTON, Mass. – The Regis College Pride earned their fifth victory of the season, getting by Simmons University, 8-1, Saturday afternoon in a GNAC women's tennis match.

The day started with the doubles pairing of Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) and Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) winning their match at first doubles, 8-2. At second doubles Carly Donovan (Harwich, Mass.) and Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) defeated Paola Rios and Michelle Medici, 8-3. The Pride would drop third doubles, but they would end the doubles portion leading the overall match, 2-1.

Singles play began with Donovan taking her match in second singles (6-2, 6-4). Katelyn Mogelnicki would then win fourth singles (6-3, 4-6, 6-0). The clinching point of the match would come from McCormack at first singles (6-4, 6-4). The day concluded with the other three singles matches all going to the Pride.

The Pride will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 12 p.m. when they will be a part of Regis Fest with a GNAC match against Albertus Magnus.
