Women’s Tennis Takes Down Conference Foe

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College Pride hosted the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), winning their match Saturday afternoon, 7-2.

The day started with the doubles pairing of Carly Donovan (Harwich, Mass.) and Katelyn Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) defeating their opponents in second doubles, Ashley Savino and Dominique Carnot, 8-0.  Third doubles would see the Pride come out on top, when Kaeleigh FitzPatrick (South Windsor, Conn.) and Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) beat Jessica McAllister and Carolyn Callahan, 8-1. Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) and Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) would beat Lucy Roberge and Leah Nguyen to close out doubles, 8-3.

Coming out of doubles leading the match 3-0, the Pride would continue to win matchups, with Donovan beating Nguyen in second singles (6-1, 6-1). Jarvis would clinch the match by defeating Savino in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) at third singles.

In first singles, McCormack was able to win against Lucy Roberge (6-1, 6-2), and Lauren Mogelnicki would take on Carnot, earning the last of the seven points for Regis (6-3, 6-4).

McAllister would win the Blue Jays' first match of the day when she was able to close out sixth singles (6-0, 6-4). Callahan would defeat FitzPatrick in fifth singles to end the day (7-5, 6-3).

The Blue Jays return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 18, to take on UMass Dartmouth at home.

The Pride will travel to North Reading High School on Wednesday, Sept. 19 to take on the Suffolk Rams. After playing two matches away from campus, they will return home on Saturday, Sept. 29, to take on Albertus Magnus.
