Women’s Tennis Falls to Eastern Nazarene

WESTON, Mass. - The Pride were unable to overcome GNAC newcomers Eastern Nazarene as the Regis women's tennis team lost to the Lions, 7-2, Saturday afternoon in a conference contest at the Regis Tennis Center.

The Pride dropped the matches in first and second doubles, but they did come out with a win in third doubles. The freshman pairing of Kaeleigh FitzPatrick (South Windsor, Conn.) and Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.) defeated Alecia Tubbs and Veronica Jimenez of the Lions, 8-4. The Lions led 2-1 after doubles matches concluded.

Eastern Nazarene was able to win in fourth and second singles to bring the lead up to 4-1. The clinching match came from third singles when Adele Duval defeated Mogelnicki in straight sets (6-3, 6-4).

The second Pride win of the match came from Ginger Boodakian (Burlington, Mass.), who beat Annelise Sherrill at the number six singles position in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.

The Pride (1-1, 0-1 GNAC) hit the road next week to take on Worcester State, Wednesday, Sept. 12, before returning home for their next GNAC match next Saturday, Sept. 15, against the University of St. Joseph starting at 1:30 p.m
