Jarest Wins Twice, Clinches Win For Women's Tennis Over Wentworth

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis (Mass.) women's tennis team played its first home match since last fall and came out on top in a 6-3 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology on a chilly Thursday night at the Regis Tennis Center.

Gracie Jarest (Wrentham, Mass.) delivered the match winning victory, topping Mackenzie Jones (Granville, Mass.) 6-3, 6-3 at six singles. The win was Jarest's second of the evening over Jones. With partner Carly Donovan (Harwich, Mass.), she topped Jones and Beverly LaChapelle (Caracas, Venezuela) 8-0 at No. 3 doubles for the first result of the match.

After Jarest and Donovan got the Pride's first point, the Wentworth pair of Emily Jodoin (Attleboro, Mass.) and Ellen Butts (Brookfield, Mass.) evened the match with an 8-5 win at the two. The Pride responded and grabbed the lead heading to singles play with Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) and Ariana McCormack's (Worcester, Mass.) 9-7 win on the No. 1 court.

Sara Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.) won in straight sets over LaChapelle then McCormack cruised by Jodoin to put Regis (9-5) on the brink of victory up 4-1. Jarvis would suffer a 6-3, 6-0 defeat at second singles before Jarest clinched the match with her win at the six.

With the match decided, Donovan finished with a 6-4, 6-3 defeat to Ali Sollecito (Taunton, Mass.) and Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) closed the evening beating Butts 6-4, 6-4.

Regis is next in action Tuesday, Apr. 10 hosting Franklin Pierce at 4:30 p.m. The Leopards close their season at 3-12.
