NEW HAVEN, Conn. - With the second seed secured in next week's Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament, the Regis (Mass.) women's tennis team closed the regular season with a dominant 8-1 win at Albertus Magnus Saturday afternoon at the Celentano Courts.

The match saw Gracie Jarest (Wrentham, Mass.) win her first collegiate match, a 7-5, 7-5 sweep over Lakhena Rath at six singles. She won at third doubles with partner Kailey Myers (Norwalk, Calif.), beating Nallely Magana and Paige Williams 8-3.

Regis got off to a quick start, sweeping doubles play in convincing fashion. Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.)  and Carly Donovan (Harwich, Mass.) topped Alicia Weaver (Bethel, Conn.) and Izzy Sabino (Cheshire, Conn.) at No. 1 singles by a score of 8-2. Coupled with Jarest and Myers' win on the No. 3 court, Carly Scanlon (Canton, Mass.) and Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) topped Jessica Coughlin and Kelsea Wildman 8-4 to complete the doubles sweep.

Outside of its lone loss at No. 5 singles, the Pride won via sweeps in all of its singles matches. Donovan and Jarvis dominated at the one and two, respectively. Donovan blanked Weaver 6-0, 6-0 and Jarvis surrendered just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win over Coughlin.

Scanlon and DiPace also picked up straight set wins on the No. 3 and No. 4 courts.

With the regular season in the rearview mirror, the Pride now sets its sights on the GNAC Tournament which, for Regis, begins Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Winchester Indoor Tennis Center, opponent to be determined.
