REGIS SWEEPS BAY PATH IN CONFERENCE ACTION

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's tennis team swept New England Collegiate Conference rival Bay Path University 9-0 on Thursday evening on the Regis Tennis Courts. The victory improves the Crimson and Gold's record to 8-1, 7-0 NECC and with the loss, the Wildcats fall to 3-7, 3-4 NECC.

The win over the Wildcats extended the Prides' NECC dominance as they have not lost a match in over three years. Regis currently holds a 33 match win streak against conference rivals with their last loss coming against Becker on October 1, 2012.

Regis swept doubles play with the duo of Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) and Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) earning a 8-1 win against Brittany Walsh (N. Smithfield, R.I.) and Taylor Wood (Castleton, N.Y.). Lord and Murphy remain undefeated at No. 1 doubles this season as the pair have posted a 9-0, 7-0 NECC mark at the position. The Pride also took No. 2 and No. 3 doubles by an 8-1 margin with Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.)/Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) and Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.)/Sara Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.) getting the wins.

In singles action, the Crimson and Gold took all six matches. Erica Murphy won her first match at No. 1 singles on the campaign as she defeated Brittany Walsh in two sets 6-0, 6-1. Katasha Jarvis improved to 8-1 at No. 4 singles sweeping Katie Leibowitz (Tolland, Conn.) 6-0, 6-0. Jewel Medeiros remained perfect at No. 5 singles moving to 9-0 and 7-0 in conference matches on the season after she beat Brittany Schafer (Brooklyn, N.Y.) 6-0, 6-0.

Regis returns to the courts on Saturday for an away match against Newbury at noon. The match will be held at the Regis Tennis Courts.
