PRIDE STAY PERFECT IN NECC WITH SWEEP OF BAY PATH

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Regis College women's tennis team stretched their New England Collegiate Conference winning-streak to 22 straight matches with a 9-0 sweep of Bay Path University on Tuesday night. The Pride improve to 3-0, 2-0 NECC with the win, while the Wildcats fall to 0-4, 0-2 NECC.

Regis jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the match following doubles play as Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) and Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) teamed for an 8-3 win over Brittany Walsh and Taylor Wood at No. 1 doubles. Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) added an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles, with Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) and Sara Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.) winning 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.

The Pride continued their strong effort as the match moved into singles play with Lord, the current NECC Player of the Week, defeating Brittany Walsh in straight-sets 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Murphy defeated Wood by a matching score at No. 2 singles, and Emily Rice winning 6-1, 6-2 over Yismel Rosario at No. 3 singles.

Katasha Jarvis moved to a perfect 3-0 at No. 4 singles this season with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Katie Leibowitz, while Medeiros defeated Edna Aboagye at No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-0. Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) added a straight set 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles over Katrina Mannion.

Regis returns to action Saturday afternoon when they host Lesley University in an NECC match scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
