PRIDE WIN FIRST MATCH OF 2015, 8-1

QUINCY, Mass. – The Regis College women's tennis team picked up where they left off in the spring of 2015 with an 8-1 victory over Eastern Nazarene College on Thursday afternoon in Quincy, Mass. The Pride improves to 1-0 on the year, while ENC drops to 1-1.

The Crimson and Gold took all three doubles points to jump out to a 3-0 lead early. Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) and Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) grabbed an 8-5 win over Jordan Cressman and Adele Duval at No. 1 doubles, while Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) and Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) picked up an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles over Tressa Burrello and Julie Sutton.

The duo of Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) and Sara Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.) earned a tough 9-8 victory at No. 3 doubles over Hannah Lariviere and Alecia Tubbs to complete the doubles sweep.

In singles play, Medeiros swept Jordan Price, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles, while Kat Jarvis (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) grabbed her first collegiate point with a straight-set sweep over Sutton at No. 4 singles. Erica Murphy posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over Burrello at No. 2 singles, with Rice adding a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles over Cressman. DiPace defeated Lariviere, 8-3, at No. 6 singles.

Eastern Nazarene grabbed their lone point of the match at No. 1 singles as Adele Duval defeated Jessie Lord, 6-1, 6-3.

The Pride return to action next Thursday when they host Johnson and Wales University in a 4:30 p.m. matchup at Regis.
