REGIS WINS 22ND-STRAIGHT NECC MATCH

WESTON, Mass. - Regis College recorded its 22nd-straight win against a New England Collegiate Conference opponent with a 7-1 victory over Lesley University on Friday night in NECC action in Weston, Mass. The Pride improve to 7-1 overall and 6-0 in league games, while the Lynx fall to 6-3 and 3-2 in the conference.

Regis jumped out to an early 2-1 lead following doubles play as Kendall Kolb (Plymouth, Mass.) and Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) defeated Carissa Iverson (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) and Victoria Bunker (Auburn, Maine) at No. 2 doubles, 8-6. The freshman duo of Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) and Sara Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.) posted a win in No. 3 doubles by the matching score of 8-6 over Emma True (Lee, N.H.) and Christyl Skelton (Burlington, Mass.).

Lesley was able to grab a win at No. 1 doubles as Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass.) and Carlyn Barker (Murrieta, Calif.) defeated Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) by the score of 8-6.

Regis was able to win five of the six singles matches to give the match it's final score of 7-1. Jessie Lord handed Caroline Kiddie a 6-0, 6-1, setback at No. 1 singles, and Erica Murphy rebounded for a 6-3, 6-1 win against Carissa Iverson. Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) won 6-4, 6-0, at No. 4 singles against Emma True. Amy DiPace was victorious at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-1, and Melinda Mara (Pelham, N.H.) fought off Christyl Skelton for a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles.

Emily Rice held a 6-4, 4-3 lead over Carlyn Barker at No. 3 singles, but the match was unfinished due to rain.

Both teams are back in NECC action on Saturday afternoon as the Pride travel to Bay Path University for a 1:00 p.m. match, and Lesley hosts Mitchell College at 2:00 p.m.
