Weston, Mass.-Colby-Sawyer easily defeated a shorthanded Regis College 2-7 Sunday. The Pride's Megan McCarthy (Norfolk, Mass.) has continued her aggressive and dominant play against The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponents, defeating Claire Toffey (Barnstable, Mass.) in the number one singles position 6-0, 6-3.
Catilin Fitzgerald (Lynn, Mass.) was the only other Regis player to gain a victory, defeating Carolyn Drake (Great River, NY) 6-4, 6-4. Colby-Sawyer's Nikki Humphrey (Little Compton, RI) would knock out Georgia Cowart (Hopkinton, Mass.) 6-1, 6-1.
Following her teammate, Katie Terrien (Colchester, VT) defeated MJ Barron (Whitinsville, Mass.) handily 6-0, 6-0. Regis would forfeit its fifth and sixth positions.
McCarthy and Cowart paired to take on the Chargers talented Mary Francis (North Steuben, Maine) and Brittany Mailman 8-2 in the number one slot of doubles play.
Regis returns to the court Tuesday to face TCCC opponent Gordon College. Colby-Sawyer will take on Eastern Nazarene College Sept. 8.
