Pride Swim Teams Sweep Monks in Friday Dual Meet

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College swim teams took care of business Friday night, sweeping Saint Joseph's College in a dual meet as the women prevailed, 123-60, while the men posted a 77-48 victory at the Regis Aquatics Center.

The veterans led the women, as seniors Gloria Sutton (Suffield, Conn.) and Jessica Zernitsky (Newton, Mass.) each won two individual events. Zernitsky finished first in the 50 freestyle with a season-best time of 26.49 seconds as well as in the 100 butterfly in 1:07.50. Sutton touched the wall first in the 100 freestyle with a season-best time of 1:01.07 and in the 500 freestyle in 5:56.95, over nine seconds faster than her previous best mark so far this year.

Sarah Leonard (Brockton, Mass.) won the 200 freestyle by over a second with a time of 2:10.19, while Kyleigh Boatwright (Roseville, Calif.) cruised to the win in the 100 individual medley in a season-best time of 1:06.49. Alexa Lancisi (Milford, Mass.) picked up a victory in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.98, and Julia Burke (North Andover, Mass.) posted the fastest time in the 100 breaststroke at 1:14.60, also a season-best mark.

The quarter of Boatwright, Burke, Zernitsky, and Leonard led off the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:59.82. The two Regis relay teams in the 200 freestyle relay finished close together, with the foursome of Lancisi, Sutton, Lindsey Bone (Rosenberg, Texas) and Thalia Bowie (Lexington, Mass.) posting a time of 1:59.05, just ahead of Caoilinn Bassignani (Franklin, Mass.), Shawna MacNeil (Medford, Mass.), Burke, and Ryan Moran (Arlington, Mass.) completing the event in 1:59.78.

The men were led by junior Noah Toumayan-Miller (Natick, Mass.), as he won the 100 freestyle in 59.50 seconds and posted the fastest time in the 100 breaststroke of 1:27.99. He also finished second in the 50 freestyle in 26.69 seconds, behind teammate Gueincy Clodomir's (Pembroke Park, Fla.) winning time of 25.60 seconds.

Grant Kollien (Acton, Mass.) won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:18.50, while Brendan Pike (Weymouth, Mass.) outdueled the Monks' Evan Whaley, finishing first in the 200 freestyle by 21/100ths of a second with a season-best time of 1:53.44. Whaley did win two events, with Kollien finishing second in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.68 and Pike ending up behind Whaley in the 500 freestyle by less than a second, with Pike earning another season-best mark at 5:16.28.

Robert Wood (Cathedral City, Calif.) saw no competition in any of his events, posting a time of 1:02.51 in the 100 individual medley and a mark of 1:03.56 in the 100 backstroke. There were also no Monk competitors in the women's 1000 freestyle, with Bowie completing the event in a season-best time of 12:06.03.

Regis will host Elms College and Husson University in the Regis Invitational Sunday, Dec. 8. The first session will begin at 10 a.m., with the second session scheduled to start at 3 p.m. All events in both sessions will be finals.
