Kollien, McQuaid Receive NEISDA Weekly Honors

WESTON, Mass. – After playing a significant role in their team's respective overall victories at the Regis Invitational last Saturday, sophomore Grant Kollien (Acton, Mass.) has been voted the Male Swimmer of the Week and junior Elisabeth McQuaid (Marlborough, Mass.) has been voted the Female Diver of the Week, as announced by the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Wednesday afternoon.

Kollien led off Regis's "B" quartet in the 200 freestyle relay, posting a season-best 50 freestyle time of 24.28 seconds. He then won the 500 freestyle by 1.41 seconds with a career-best mark of 5:01.08, and capped the morning with a third-place finish in the 50 freestyle in 24.49 seconds.

In the final event of the meet, Kollien cruised to a 34.75-second victory in the 1650 freestyle, setting a new pool record with a time of 17:43.49. He completed the first 1000 yards in 10:48.23, a season-best time for the sophomore.

All six women's one-meter diving pool and school records fell Saturday, as McQuaid completed 11 dives and compiled a total of 443.05 points, 35 points more than the previous school record that stood for 28 years. In splitting up the dives, McQuaid established the five voluntary dive school and pool records at 188.80 points and the new six optional dive standard for both the team and the pool at 254.25 points.

McQuaid, the two-time defending GNAC champion in one-meter diving, now holds the season's top score in the conference and the second-best score among NEISDA schools. Already the GNAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week, McQuaid has been named the NEISDA Female Diver of the Week 10 times during her collegiate career, including three honors this season.

After fall semester finals and the holiday break, Regis will head to Florida for winter training. The Pride will take part in the FIU Sprint Invitational in Miami, Fla., Saturday, Jan. 5.
