Offensive Outburst Powers Pride to Senior Day Win

WESTON, Mass. – There were five different goal scorers for the Pride Saturday as Regis College earned a 7-0 victory over Anna Maria College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer match at Regis Stadium.

The Pride scored 8:54 into the match when Kaylee Francis (Millis, Mass.) sent a pass to Shelagh O'Neil (Tyngsboro, Mass.). O'Neil then fired a shot past the AMCAT goalkeeper, giving the Pride a 1-0 lead.

Emily Lange (Ashland, Mass.) put the ball into the back of the net 4:14 later after receiving a pass from O'Neil. Lange scored a second time in the first half after a ball bounced out of the box to her. Lange then fired a shot that went over the goalkeeper's hand into the net.

Rachel Kelly (Whitman, Mass.) moved into a tie for third all-time for goals in a career with her 25th career tally after Payton Fitzgerald (Danielson, Conn.) found her in open space. Noelle Garcia (Los Angeles, Calif.) connected with Emma Mendes (Pawtucket, R.I.) for a goal with 5:48 remaining in the first half to put the Pride up 5-0 going into the break.

In the second half, Mendes score 4:02 into the half after a cross from Brianna Gaynor (Peabody, Mass.) found the foot of Mendes, who then rocketed a shot past the AMCAT goalkeeper. Miya Nishibun (Honolulu, Hawaii) rounded out the scoring for the Pride with an unassisted goal in the 63rd minute of the match.

Regis put 19 of their 22 shots on net in the match while holding Anna Maria to four shots on net among their five shot attempts. The Pride also earned 13 corner kicks in the match while only allowing the AMCATS to have one attempt.

Before the match, the coaches recognized seniors Kara Carchedi (Quincy, Mass.), O'Neil, Faith Montgomery (Abington, Mass.), Kelly, Erin Filetti (Newburyport, Mass.), and Garcia as they played their final regular season home match.

Anna Maria (3-11-1, 0-8-1 GNAC) will host Norwich Tuesday, Oct. 22 in a GNAC matchup. They then host Emmanuel the following Saturday, Oct. 26 before closing out the regular season against Johnson & Wales Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Regis (7-8, 4-5 GNAC) play the rest of the season on the road, as the Wednesday, Oct. 23 match changed venues to Johnson & Wales. The Pride will then play Saturday, Oct. 26 at Norwich before facing Emmanuel on the road Wednesday, Oct. 30
