Pride Drop Match to Falcons

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Regis College women's soccer team fell to the Falcons of Albertus Magnus in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match Saturday, 1-0.

Regis was on the attacking end of the field early in the first half with the Pride earning three corner kicks in a span of 1:27. The Pride were unable to take a shot attempt coming off the corner attempts.

Kaylee Francis (Millis, Mass.) was able to put a shot on net in the seventh minute, but it was saved by the Falcon goalkeeper. Albertus put their first shot on net with 9:20 remaining in the half when Haley Andrews received a long pass from Katherine Raposo and fired the ball into the back of the net. The Falcons went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

The best chance of the game for the Pride came in the 71st minute when Aria Ulmer (Henniker, N.H.) connected on a ball coming across the net and redirected it toward the open left side of the net, but the redirection went just wide left of the post.

Falcon goalkeeper Cassidy Scofield picked up her fifth win of the season after stopping all six shots that she faced on net, four of which came in the second half. Angie Caldwell (Goffstown, N.H.) made three saves while facing four shots on goal.

Albertus Magnus (7-4-1, 4-3-1 GNAC) will face Suffolk on Wednesday, Oct. 16 before facing Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Regis (6-7, 3-4 GNAC) will play Lasell University on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at UMass Lowell, a time and site change necessitated by continued precautions from the EEE virus mandated in Weston. The Pride will then celebrate their Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 19 before their match against Anna Maria at 1:30 p.m.
