Women’s Soccer Falls in Non-Conference Tilt

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College lost to Lesley University, 6-1, Saturday afternoon in a non-conference women's collegiate soccer match at Regis Stadium.

Regis struck first in the 21st minute, starting an offensive rush with Hailey Lovell (Wakefield, Mass.) carrying the ball up the left side. She found Kaylee Francis (Millis, Mass.) in the middle of the field and sent the ball her way. Francis, in turn, found Valerie Gordon (Hudson, N.H.) streaking down the right side, and Gordon sent the ball into the net for her second goal in as many matches.

Lesley (3-0) evened the match in the 36th minute on a goal by Calli Masters. The match remained tied at halftime with neither starting goalie, Ori Attridge (Westwood, Mass.) of Regis and Jill Narby of Lesley, making a save before being replaced to start the second half.

The Lynx took the lead for good seven-and-a-half minutes into the second half on Masters's second goal of the match. Just one-and-a-half minutes later, Lesley struck again, as Kerrie Larson sent a corner kick into the box, and Claire Hounslow redirected the ball into the net.

Larson was successful on another corner kick set play in the 70th minute, finding Maddy Deitrick for a header into the left side of the net. Less than a minute later, Chloe Kouyoumdjian scored, and Tayla Maberry earned the final goal of the contest for Lesley in the 82nd minute.

Remington Hasley picked up the victory for the Lynx, earning one save in the second half, while Angie Caldwell (Goffstown, N.H.) took the loss. Lesley outshot Regis, 15-5, with Masters leading everyone with four total shots.

Regis (1-2) is scheduled to host Curry College Wednesday, Sept. 11, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Regis Stadium. The Colonels are 1-3 after a 4-2 loss to Wellesley Saturday.
