Regis Women’s Soccer Defeats Rivier on Road, 2-0

NASHUA, N.H. – Regis College scored two early goals to take the lead, and then the Pride used a combination of offensive pressure and timely defense to defeat Rivier University, 2-0, Wednesday night in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's soccer match at Raider Field.

Regis struck first in the 11th minute of the match as Kaylee Francis (Millis, Mass.) set up Bailey Elliot (Tolland, Conn.) for her second goal of the season. Just over six minutes later, Francis picked up a goal, her 10th of the season with half of those coming in the last five matches.

The Pride dominated the action, outshooting the Raiders 31-4, including 18-0 in the first half. Rivier goalie Kasey Smith kept her team as close as possible, finishing the night with 20 saves. Oriana Attridge (Westwood, Mass.) made four saves in the second half to earn the first collegiate clean sheet of her career.

Francis led the Pride with eight total shots, including six shots on goal, while Rachel Kelly (Whitman, Mass.) earned seven total shots, five of them on goal. Attridge's toughest challenge came in the 60th minute when she turned away back-to-back shots by Brittany Fletcher and Kassiana Gagnon.

Rivier (3-10, 2-9 GNAC) did not receive a corner kick opportunity, while Regis earned seven corner kick chances during the match. The Raiders host Johnson & Wales Saturday, Oct. 20, starting at 3:30 p.m.

Regis (9-6, 7-5 GNAC) is off until next Tuesday, Oct. 23, when the Pride will celebrate Senior Night before hosting Framingham State in a non-conference contest. Regis will then prepare for the quarterfinals of the GNAC Women's Soccer Tournament Saturday, Oct. 27.
