Offense Strikes Early for Women’s Soccer in Conference Win

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's soccer team got off to an early start against Albertus Magnus College Wednesday night at Regis Stadium for a 4-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference win over the Falcons.

The first goal of the game for the Pride came from Kaylee Francis (Millis, Mass.), who was on the receiving end of a pass from Brianna Gaynor (Peabody, Mass.), in the sixth minute of the match. Rachel Kelly (Whitman, Mass.) would continue the scoring for Regis, striking just under ten minutes later for her fourth goal of the season, putting the Pride up, 2-0.

After coming out of the halftime break, Payton Fitzgerald (Danielson, Conn.) took her turn to score coming off a pass from Kelly. Fitzgerald would strike again in the 64th minute of play, pushing her season goal total to five.

The lone Albertus Magnus goal of the match came from Haley Andrews in the 66th minute of action. Regis goalie Oriana Attridge (Westwood, Mass.) made two saves as she earned her third victory of the season before being replaced in the 71st minute by Angie Caldwell (Goffstown, N.H.), who was credited with one save.

Albertus Magnus (2-8, 1-6 GNAC) was led by keeper Lexie Fenn, who finished with 11 saves as Regis outshot the Falcons 38-6. The Falcons will next face Simmons at home next Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m.

Regis (6-5, 4-4 GNAC), with five matches remaining in the regular season, will play at Anna Maria Saturday, Oct. 3, at 2:00 p.m., before playing Norwich next Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m., at Regis Stadium.
