Pride Women’s Soccer Falls in Conference Play

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College women's soccer team came up just short Saturday afternoon, falling to Simmons in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup, 2-1, at Regis Stadium.

Simmons (7-3, 5-1 GNAC) scored the first goal of the match, as Ciara Forde found the corner of the net in the 10th minute for her 10th goal of the season. The lone goal of the match for Regis came in the second half off a strike from Emily Lange (Ashland, Mass.), who was able to get through the tight defense of the Sharks and score her first goal of the year.

The Sharks would score less than two minutes later when Cierra Martin was able to find the ball bouncing between players in the box and sneak it past the goalkeeper.

Oriana Attridge (Westwood, Mass.) played the entire match and finished with four saves. Regis outshot Simmons, 22-12, but Shark goalie Lauren Williams kept her team in the match throughout the afternoon as she made nine saves.

Regis (5-5, 3-4 GNAC) is back in action Wednesday, Oct. 3, when it will take on Albertus Magnus at home starting at 7 p.m.
