Women’s Soccer Gets Overtime Win

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Regis College Pride walked away from Saturday afternoon's women's soccer match against Colby-Sawyer with a 3-2 overtime victory.

With Regis down 2-0, Avery Finelli (Colchester, Vt.) was able to find the net first for the Pride with a shot that found the corner of the net from 25 yards out, making the game 2-1. With their backs against the wall in the 86th minute, the Pride were able to take advantage of a Charger own goal, evening the score and forcing overtime.

After one overtime period was not enough, Payton Fitzgerald (Danielson, Conn.) found the receiving end of a pass from Kaylee Francis (Millis, Mass.), who was able to cross the ball into the box, and Fitzgerald put it into the back of the net.

The match started with the Pride giving up two goals. The first was scored by Natalie Ellard, when she was able to sneak a goal by Oriana Attridge (Westwood, Mass.) for Colby-Sawyer to take the lead, 1-0. After the halftime break, Molly MacLure was able to score a goal off a corner kick from Hannah Fields.

The Pride will return to action at home on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. when they take on Emmanuel at Regis Stadium. They will then be part of Regis Fest when they take on Simmons University Saturday, Sept. 29, at 1:30 p.m.
