Women's Soccer Drops 1-0 Defeat To Lesley

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis (Mass.) women's soccer team faced former NECC foe Lesley but was unable to come up with a result, falling 1-0 to the Lynx in non-conference action Thursday night at Regis Stadium. With the loss, the Pride fell to 4-9-1 while Lesley improved to 13-2-2.

Regis had a handful of scoring opportunities in the first half but was unable to finish. The best chance came late in the period when Maddie Michaud (New Orleans, La.) ran down a ball on the left flank. She was able to cut into the box but couldn't get enough on the shot which was saved by Lesley keeper Brittley Gann (Bellevue, Wash.). The two teams headed to halftime scoreless.

The tides turned a bit in the second half as it was Lesley who would pepper the Pride net for good periods of time. The best chance came minutes before the goal when Karlin Rubin (San Diego, Calif.) ripped a shot from just outside the goal box which was cleared by a Regis defender.

Rubin made good on her next chance though as the Lynx finally broke through in the 80th minute. Rachel Buckley (San Diego, Calif.) played a ball over the backline to an onrunning Rubin who controlled the pass then slotted her shot past Krysten Drake (Loganville, Ga.) for what proved to be the gamewinner.

Drake had seven saves for the Pride while Gaan posted four in her winning effort for Lesley.

The Pride plays its home finale on Saturday, Oct. 21 hosting Becker for Senior Day. Kickoff at Regis Stadium is set for 4:30 p.m. The Lynx visit Newbury for a match against Hellenic College the same day for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
