Women's Soccer Blanked by Albertus Magnus

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) women's soccer team conceded a pair of first half goals on Saturday afternoon, as the Pride fell 2-0 to Albertus Magnus in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Regis Stadium.

With the loss, the Pride falls to 2-7-1 on the season and 1-6-1 in the GNAC. The Falcons improve to 4-5-1 overall and 3-4-1 in GNAC play.

Albertus Magnus opened the scoring in the 12th minute when senior Angelina Piccirillo (Naugatuck, Conn.) tallied her second goal of the season. Off a Falcon corner kick, the ball found the foot of senior Victoria Lavery (West Haven, Conn.), who fed a pass to Piccirillo. From 25 yards out, Piccirillo fired a shot that curled over the head of Regis goalkeeper Kyrsten Drake (Loganville, Ga.) to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.

Twelve minutes later, the Falcons doubled their lead, as senior Amanda Montano (North Haven, Conn.) tallied her second goal of the season on a shot from the top of the box. The unassisted goal gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead, which they would carry into halftime.

The Pride heavily outshot the Falcons on the afternoon, but were unable to find the back of the net. Regis outshot Albertus 22-11 in the contest, led by six from sophomore Rachel Kelly (Whitman, Mass.), but 12 saves from junior Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) kept the Pride off the board. Fenn was credited with her fourth win of the season in goal, while Drake, who made two saves, got the loss.

The Pride will return to the pitch on Wednesday as the team travels to GNAC foe Norwich for a 4:00 p.m. start. The Falcons will be off for a week before hosting Saint Joseph's (Me.) for Homecoming next Saturday at 3:30.
