LIONS TOO MUCH FOR REGIS

QUINCY, Mass. - Rookies Katherine Lawrence (Marlborough, Conn.) and Hannah Scahill (Quaker Hill, Conn.) each found the back of the net twice to propel the Eastern Nazarene women's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Regis Tuesday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Lions claimed their third-consecutive shutout to improve to 5-1-0 on the season. The Pride falls to 2-2-1 overall with the loss.

The Lions seized a 1-0 edge in the 13th minute after the visitor's goalkeeper came out to punch away a bouncing ball, Lawrence one-timed a shot into the net from beyond the 18-yard box for her third marker of the season.

Eastern Nazarene stretched its lead to 2-0 in the 31st minute of play and extended the gap to three in the 40th minute. Jules Speno (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) poked home a loose ball inside the six-yard box to pick up her team-leading eighth tally of the fall.

The Lions held a 15-3 margin in first-half shots and a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal. Eastern Nazarene earned all three corner kicks awarded in the opening stanza.

Eastern Nazarene tacked on two more goals in the final 45 minutes and finished the match with 26 shots while limiting Regis to just three attempts. Jackie Rocheville (Salem, Mass.) and Kristen Abreu (Woburn, Mass.) combined for the three shots, with each registering a shot on goal.
