Henniker, N.H. – The Regis College women's soccer team opened their season with a convincing victory, beating the New England College Pilgrims by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday evening to move to 1-0 on the season. With the loss, the Pilgrims fall to 1-2-0 overall.

The two teams would battle through the opening 24 minutes scoreless before Regis' Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) finally broke the scoring drought after heading in a corner off the foot of Jackie Rocheville (Salem, Mass.).

The Pride would extend their lead to 2-0 in the 37th minute as Adena Joseph (Stoughton, Mass.) would clean up a loose ball in front of the Pilgrim net.

Regis would take advantage of another corner in the 55th minute of play as freshman Hannah Bouvette (Mattapoisett, Mass.) would net her first collegiate goal after punching in a corner from Jackie Rocheville (Salem, Mass.).

The Pilgrims' best scoring opportunity of the second half came in the 79th minute as Kristen Walker (Franklin, Mass.) would strike a penalty kick into the chest of Regis keeper Rachel Gagnon (Ashford, Conn.).

The Pride held the slight 10-9 advantage in shots and the slight 6-5 advantage in corners.

Gagnon picked up the win in net for Regis finishing the evening with four saves, while NEC's Tricia Sardagnola (Shrewsbury, Mass.) collected three saves.

NEC returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 7 when they host non-conference opponent Wentworth Institute of Technology. Regis will hit the field on Saturday, Sept. 7 hosting Lyndon State College at 3:30 p.m.
