Pride Women’s Lacrosse Honored by IWLCA for Academic Excellence

GRAND LAKE, Colo. – In the midst of its best season in program history, the Regis College women's lacrosse team still maintained a high level of academic success, as four members of the 2018-19 squad were named to the Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll and the team as a whole was named a Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), announced Wednesday afternoon by the national organization.

To qualify as an Academic Honor Squad, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the 2018-19 academic year. In total, 303 schools across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III and NAIA received recognition, including two other Great Northeast Athletic Conference programs: league regular season and tournament champion Johnson & Wales and Simmons.

Individually, 652 student-athletes from 172 different institutions earned their spot on the Division III Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible, student-athletes must have been a junior, senior, or graduate student during the 2018-19 academic year and have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or greater.

Defender Kiana Koke (Queensbury, N.Y.), the 2018-19 Female Regis-Casserly Award recipient and president of Regis' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee during the past year, was one of the four Pride players named to the Academic Honor Roll. She is joined by three student-athletes who will be entering their senior year in 2019-20: Kerri Anselmo (Natick, Mass.), Mary Costantino (Abington, Mass.), and Bridget Dowling (Hanover, Mass.).

During the 2019 season, the Regis College women's lacrosse team tied the program record for wins in a single season with 15, including a school-record 13-match winning streak. The Pride finished second in the GNAC with a 10-1 regular season league mark and advanced to the championship match of the GNAC Tournament.
