Regis Women’s Lacrosse Earns Another GNAC Victory

WESTON, Mass. – A combination of precision offense and stingy defense allowed Regis College to extend its program-record winning streak to 11 matches, as the Pride defeated Albertus Magnus College, 13-3, Wednesday night in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's lacrosse contest at Regis Stadium.

Jordyn Ringuette (Colchester, Conn.) scored a season-high four goals to lead the Pride, while Kerri Anselmo (Natick, Mass.) and Emily Kosak (Milton, Mass.) each notched hat tricks with three goals apiece. Taylor Assarian (Arlington, Mass.) dished out three assists, Alyssa Kelly (Lee, Mass.) finished with two goals and two assists, and Anselmo also dished out two assists to increase her 2019 total to 26, breaking Regis' single-season assist record of 24 set by Sam Salamone in 2013.

Anselmo scored the first two goals of the match within the opening 4:20, followed by a goal by Kelly off an Assarian assist just over six minutes into the contest. The Pride kept the pressure on the Falcons, eventually increasing their advantage to 7-0 with nine minutes left in the first half on a goal by Brooke Ross (Hanover, Mass.) off Anselmo's record-breaking assist.

Exactly one minute after Ross's goal, Ringuette earned her first tally, and then Kosak completed her hat trick with 5:35 remaining in the opening half to give Regis a 9-0 lead. Meanwhile, the Pride kept the Falcons off the scoreboard, forcing Albertus Magnus into 18 first-half turnovers while Brittany McPherson (Lynn, Mass.) turned away all three shots on goal by the Falcons.

Ringuette scored twice within the first seven minutes of the second half to extend the Pride advantage to 11-0. Albertus Magnus finally broke through midway through the second half thanks to an unassisted goal by Kaitlyn Ellsworth, but Anselmo scored on a free-position opportunity less than two minutes later.

Albertus Magnus (4-9, 2-6 GNAC) would score twice in the span of 70 seconds, as Kaitlin D'Agostino scored on a free-position attempt, and then Katherin Martinez grabbed the ensuing draw control, raced down the field, and found Alexis Lape in front of the net. Ringuette would pick up her fourth goal of the match off an assist by Anselmo to complete the scoring.

Martinez led the Falcons with five ground balls and four draw controls, while Madison Neilander finished with four shots on goal, two ground balls, three draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Falcon goalie Lexie Fenn finished with 14 saves, including nine saves in the first half. Albertus Magnus returns to action Monday, April 15, with a home game against Mitchell.

Ross led the Pride with eight draw controls, and Kosak finished with a game-high nine ground balls along with two caused turnovers. Andra Keane (Medford, Mass.) played a solid game defensively for Regis, ending up with four ground balls and a team-high three caused turnovers. McPherson collected eight saves for a .727 save percentage.

Regis (11-1, 8-0 GNAC) faces Colby-Sawyer College Saturday, April 13, in a key GNAC contest, as the Chargers improved to 9-3 overall and 7-2 within the league with a 19-0 victory over Anna Maria earlier Wednesday. The match is scheduled to start at 12 p.m., but fans are encouraged to arrive early for the Senior Day presentation. The Pride are also raising awareness for the One Love Foundation Saturday.
