Women's Lacrosse Takes Care of Wheelock

BOSTON, Mass. - Sophomore Kerri Anselmo recorded yet another five goal game on Thursday evening, leading the Regis (Mass.) women's lacrosse team past old conference foe Wheelock College (3-3) in a non-conference matchup at Winsor Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Regis (9-3) struck first when sophomore attacker Anselmo scored at 28:48. However, Colleen Macdonald (Sandwich, Mass.) came roaring out of the gate for the Wildcats, tallying back-to-back unassisted goals in the first four minutes. Anselmo and Bridget Dowling (Hanover, Mass.) countered for the Pride at 23:02 and 22:46 marks, to give Regis the 3-2 advantage. Emily Kosak (Milton, Mass.) was able to net an unassisted goal at 19:30 to make it 4-2 Pride before Georgia Schindele (Sparkill, N.Y.) scored on a free position shot to cut the Pride's lead to one.  

Anselmo powered her fourth goal past Erin Sior (Shrewsbury, Mass.), with an assist from Dowling with 13:14 on the clock to keep Regis on top. The Pride would head into the half leading Wheelock 12-3.

Regis notched the first goal of the second half when Rachel Nadeau (Conventry, Conn.) scored on an unassisted goal from the right side of the net. Capitalizing on a pass from Shindelel, Alexah Mellis (East Longmeadow, Mass.) netted a gorgeous goal at 11:03. Schindele made it 16-5 with 8:45 remaining in the half on an unassisted goal, however Cheyanne Jones (Randolph Center, Vt.) and Andra Keane (Medford, Mass.) went on to score two unanswered goals for Regis to seal the victory for the Pride, 18-5.

WHO STOOD OUT: Georgia Schindele had an outstanding game with 2 goals and an assist. Macdonald recorded two goals on six shots.

For the Pride, Anselmo notched 5 goals and 2 assists. Jones found the back of the net 4 times for Regis.

Wheelock's Sior recorded 7 saves on the day, while the Pride's Brittany McPherson (Lynn, Mass.) had an impressive 12 saves.

WHAT'S NEXT: Wheelock is back in action on Saturday, April 14th when they travel to Becker College for a 12 p.m. start time. The Pride will travel to Albertus Magnus College for a 12 p.m. start time.
