REGIS HANDS FRAMINGHAM STATE 14-3 LOSS

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College scored the first nine goals of the game and never looked back, cruising to a 14-3 non-conference win over visiting Framingham State in women's lacrosse action on Thursday evening at Regis Stadium. The Pride grab their third straight victory and eighth overall as they improve to 8-3 on the season. The Rams drop their fifth straight and fall to 2-8 on the year with the loss.

Teresa Busiek (Arlington, Mass.) and Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) potted four goals apiece in the win to lead the Pride, with Busiek also adding two helpers for a team-leading six points on the night. Sashae Walls (Everett, Mass.) also scored a pair of goals for Regis, while Grace Politis (Billerica, Mass.) pitched in with a goal and two assists.

Andrea Barbosa (Taunton, Mass.) opened up the scoring in the fourth minute of play on a free position goal. Regis went on to score the next eight goals of the game, as they took a commanding 9-0 lead by the 1:49 mark.

Salamone scored two of her goals during that stretch, while Walls, Politis, and Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.) also scored one goal each during the run. Katie Haidemenos (Warwick, R.I.) assisted on Politis' tally by feeding her across the crease, where she took a hard bounce shot that beat FSU keeper Marissa Burns (Woburn, Mass.) for the 3-0 lead. The next six goals would be either unassisted or free position goals.

With the score at 6-0, Busiek went on to score a hat trick in less than ten minutes to extend the Pride lead to nine. Two of her goals were free positions, while one was an unassisted play where she curled around the goal and sent a bounce shot into the back of the net.

Framingham was finally able to get onto the board thanks to an unassisted goal by Tori Lane (West Newbury, Mass.). She sent the ball into the bottom left corner past Emma Decker (Southborough, Mass.) to bring the score to 9-1 with 37 seconds in the half.

Coming out of the break, the Rams chipped away at the deficit after scoring the first goal of the second stanza. Katelyn Belcher (Plymouth, Mass.) capitalized on a free position shot at the 28:57 mark, as the score turned to 9-2.

The Pride answered with back-to-back goals from Salamone and Busiek a few minutes later. Busiek fed Salamone for Regis' tenth goal of the game before Politis set up Busiek for what would be her final score of the night.

At the middle point of the second half, the Rams helped their cause with a goal from Jessica Graham (Woburn, Mass.), assisted by Lindsay Albert (Tyngsboro, Mass.), but the Pride would score the final three goals to close out the contest. Walls and Salamone scored their second and fourth goals, respectively, before Busiek fed Lindsey Graver (Bellingham, Mass.) for the Pride's 14th and last goal.

Burns finished with 10 saves in net and collected four ground balls for the Rams, while Decker made six stops in goal. Salamone would notch a game-high seven ground balls and six draw controls for Regis, but Framingham State's Lindsay Nixon (Woburn, Mass.) was not far behind with five draw controls and four ground balls.

Both teams return to action this Saturday, April 12. The Pride will host Wheelock for a 1 p.m. NECC matchup, while the Rams will welcome Fitchburg State at 2 p.m. for a MASCAC contest.
