PRIDE SWEEP NECC WEEKLY HONORS FOR FIFTH TIME

WESTON, Mass. – For the fifth time this season, the Regis College duo of sophomore Grace Politis (Billerica, Mass.) and freshman Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) have swept New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) weekly honors for women's lacrosse, it was announced by the league's offices on Monday afternoon. Politis picks up her sixth Player of the Week honor of the season, while Salamone grabs her seventh Rookie of the Week distinction of the year.

Politis registered 18 points on 15 goals and three assists in a three win week for the Pride. The sophomore attack netted six goals, two assists, five ground balls, seven draw controls, and a caused turnover in a 17-3 win over Daniel Webster on Tuesday. She followed that up with four goals, one assist, five ground balls, three draw controls, and three caused turnovers in an 18-7 win over Wentworth on Thursday. She closed out the week by scoring five goals, scooping up three ground balls, winning six draw controls, and forcing two caused turnovers in a win against Elms on Saturday afternoon.

Salamone tallied 16 points off of 13 goals and three assists for the Pride. The freshman scored four goals, assisted on two others, grabbed two ground balls, won four draw controls, and forced one caused turnover against the Eagles. Against the Leopards on Thursday, Salamone recorded five goals, one assist, four ground balls, six draw controls, and four caused turnovers. The rookie wrapped up the week against the Blazers with four goals, seven ground balls, eight draw controls, and four caused turnovers.

Additionally, the NECC has named the City of Boston, which includes the Boston Police Department, emergency medical services, and first responders as an honorary "Player of the Week" for their incredible work over the weekend.

Each Monday, the NECC recognizes outstanding performances by student-athletes of its member institutions from the week's athletic events. The tremendous effort by the Boston Police Department, emergency medical services and first responders as well as the residents of Boston and the surrounding communities deserved note.

Regis (10-6) will wrap up regular season play with a 1:00 p.m. NECC matchup on the road at Becker on Saturday, April 27.
