Marissa Prall Named to GNAC Women’s Hoop All-Sportsmanship Team

WINTHROP, Mass. – After establishing herself as a member of the normal rotation for the Regis College women's basketball team, freshman Marissa Prall (Hopkinton, Mass.) was selected to represent the Pride on the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Basketball All-Sportsmanship Team, as the league postseason awards were announced Monday by the conference office.

Prall appeared in all 26 games for the Pride this season, averaging 8.6 minutes and 1.7 points per game. She also accumulated 18 rebounds, 11 assists, and five steals during the 2018-19 campaign.

Prall scored her first career points in the Dec. 11 victory over Fitchburg State, hitting two three-pointers for six key points as the Pride defeated the Falcons, 76-71. Her best game of the year came against UMass Dartmouth Jan. 3, as she went 5-for-8 from the field, including 4-for-6 from behind the three-point line, to lead Regis with 15 points against the Corsairs.

"Marissa is our best, most respectful student-athlete, which transfers to the character she resembles against her opponents," said head coach Angela Santa Fe. "She represents all values of our conference at the highest level."

Kelsi McNamara of Saint Joseph's College was selected as GNAC Player of the Year for the second time in her career, while Emmanuel's Kayla Weaver was voted Defensive Player of the Year. Dede Stevenson of Johnson & Wales University was voted as Rookie of the Year, Mike McDevitt of Saint Joseph's College received Coach of the Year honors for the third consecutive season, and the University of St. Joseph earned the Institutional Sportsmanship Award.
