Stone Scores 1,000th Point as Pride Upends Bay Path

WESTON, Mass. - Brittany Stone (West Bridgewater, Mass.) became the 17th 1,000-point scorer in the history of Regis (Mass.) women's basketball, leading the Pride to a win over Bay Path by a final score of 86-48.

With the win, the Pride improves to 6-5 (5-0 NECC), while the Wildcats drop to 1-9 (0-5 NECC).

Five points shy of the milestone entering the game, Stone scored her historic basket on an and-one midway through the first quarter of an assist from senior Mikayla Murphy (Attleboro, Mass.). The junior finished her night with 25 points, matching Bay Path's Dallas Jackson (Springfield, Mass.) for the night's game-high.

Stone's basket was one of 12 to fall for the Pride on their first 13 shots, as Regis started off the evening on fire from the floor. Shooting 12-for-15 (80%) in the opening quarter overall, the home team was able to jump out to a 28-12 lead after one and never looked back en route to the big win.

Murphy had a strong performance across the board, as she finished her night with seven points, five rebounds and eight assists. For the first time all season, Stone was not the Pride's leading rebounder, as junior Linsay Bumila (Raynham, Mass.) finished the night with 10 rebounds, topping Stone's eight. Senior Amanda Hawkesworth (Abington, Mass.) and sophomore Sam D'Angelo (Woburn, Mass.) each finished the evening with nine points to follow Stone.

For the Wildcats, Jackson served as the team's top rebounder to go along with top scorer, adding seven boards on the evening. Senior guard Aaliyah Gordon (Springfield, Mass.) had a strong showing offensively as well, pouring in 16 points.

Next up for Regis, they will take on Becker College in a road matchup on Thursday evening. The Wildcats will return to action the same night as they travel to Newbury College to take on the Nighthawks of Newbury College in NECC action.
