LANPHER, LOURO SHINE IN REGIS VICTORY OVER BAY PATH

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's basketball team got back on the winning track with a 80-42 victory over New England Collegiate Conference opponent Bay Path University Thursday night on Higgins Court. With the win, the Pride improve to 17-3 and remain undefeated (13-0) in conference play and the loss drops the Wildcats to 5-15, 1-12 NECC.

Regis played the entire contest with only eight players due to injuries and two players having the flu. Alyssa Lanpher (Princeton, Mass.) led the Pride offensive attack racking up a season-high 17 points while securing eight boards and handing out six helpers. Brittany Stone (West Bridgewater, Mass.) added a team-high 19 points and 12 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the campaign and freshman guard Chayla Louro (Randolph, Mass.) had her best game of her young collegiate career knocking down 6-of-9 (66.7%) three-pointers, one shy of a team record for 18 points in 15 minutes off the bench.

The Crimson and Gold started off the contest fast with a 9-0 run. Brittany Stone opened the scoring with an old fashioned three point play and then on Regis' next trip down the floor, Stone used her post presence and sweet touch to bounce a layup off the glass and in. Alyssa Lanpher then stole the rock from Wildcat junior forward Dallas Jackson (Springfield, Mass.) which led to a fast break layup from the Pride senior guard. Sam D'Angelo (Woburn, Mass.) extended the Regis lead to 9-0 with a layup down low assisted by classmate Miah Andrews (Milton, Mass.).

Bay Path tallied the next five points of the game after junior guard Brenna Roy (Stafford Springs, Conn.) buried a three-ball from the top of the key and freshman forward Haleigh Bassett (Millers Falls, Mass.) converted a layup in the post to cut their deficit to 9-5.

Regis responded with a 15-0 run to take a 24-5 lead with 1:34 left in the first quarter before Bassett added a bucket and Jackson answered a Stone layup to head into the second quarter down 17, 26-9.

Stone scored 13 of her 19 points during the opening quarter going 6-of-7 (85.7%) from the hardwood.

Regis continued their hot start increasing their lead to 24 at the intermission and never looked back.

Chayla Louro checked into the game in the fourth quarter for Regis and chalked up 15 of the Pride's 17 points from downtown. She was 5-of-8 (62.5%) from long range in the final 10 minutes of play.

Haleigh Bassett (Millers Falls, Mass.) led the Wildcats with 10 points while teammate Brenna Roy tallied 10 of her own. Dallas Jackson had an all-around game scoring nine points, handing out four assists and grabbing three caroms.

Sam D'Angelo recorded her first ever double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Miah Andrews added six points and seven rebounds while senior captain Michaela Maguire (Revere, Mass.) secured eight boards off the bench.

Regis returns to the court Saturday when they welcome conference opponent Newbury for the Essential Tremor Awareness Game with tip-off slated for 3:00 p.m. You can find more information on this contest by clicking here.
