BALANCED ATTACK FUELS PRIDE IN CONFERENCE BOUT

HOLYOKE, Mass. – The Regis College women's basketball team remained unbeaten in the New England Collegiate Conference as the visitors defeated Bay Path University 81-37 on Tuesday evening at Holyoke Community College. With the victory, the Crimson and Gold improve to 9-2, 5-0 NECC and the loss drops the Wildcats to 3-8, 0-4 NECC.

Frontcourt partners Amanda Hawkesworth (Abington, Mass.) and Brittany Stone (West Bridgewater, Mass.) both has strong games dominating the post. Hawkesworth scored a game-high 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the hardwood while Stone recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 caroms. Regis scored 52 of their 81 points in the painted area and outscored Bay Path 52-18 down low.

Alyssa Lanpher (Princeton, Mass.) had an all-around game matching a career-best with five steals while grabbing five rebounds and adding eight points.

Regis got off to a fast start opening the contest on an 8-0 run over the game's first three minutes. Amanda Hawesworth had a hand in five of the eight points with three of them coming from the charity stripe. The Wildcats outscored the Pride throughout the rest of the quarter scoring 10 points with Aaaliyah Gordon (Springfield, Mass.) having four points; both buckets on layups.

Regis and Bay Path traded points to open the second quarter before the Pride offense was sparked by a 13-1 run with points from seven different players. The Crimson and Gold's 21-7 quarter put the team up 20 points, 37-17 at the intermission, a lead they would never relinquish.

Freshman guard Maura Russell (Braintree, Mass.) matched a season-best with 23 minutes played and scored a career-best nine points on 3-of-4 shooting. She also snagged six boards and handed out two assists. Mikayla Murphy (Attleboro, Mass.) only scored four points, but found her teammates for points eight times during the contest while also making a season-high five steals.

Regis returns to action on Thursday for game two of a basketball double-header against NECC opponent Becker College with tip-off set for 8:00 p.m.
