BALANCED ATTACK FUELS PRIDE RECORD-SETTING VICTORY

WESTON, Mass. – Five players reached double-figures in scoring as Regis College defeated Bay Path University, 109-41, on Tuesday night in New England Collegiate Conference women's basketball action. The Pride have won three-straight games to improve to 7-4 overall and 5-0 in the NECC, while the Wildcats fall to 0-9 and 0-5 in league games.

Regis set a new program record for points in a game with their 109 points, breaking the previous record of 103 set back on February 4, 1987 against Simmons College.

Janaya Bradley (New Haven, Conn.) scored 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting and added six assists to lead Regis. Current NECC and Co-ECAC Rookie of the Week Brittany Stone (West Bridgewater, Mass.) added 17 points and six rebounds, while Emilee Marro (Bedford, N.H.) and Amanda Hawkesworth (Abington, Mass.) scored 12 points apiece. Hawkesworth made it her second-straight double-double by adding a game-high 16 rebounds and Marro nearly had a double-double of her own with nine assists. Mikayla Murphy (Attleboro, Mass.) knocked down three three-pointers as a part of an 11 point night.

Regis and Bay Path were tied early at 6-6 as Kaylee Herring (Worcester, Vt.) knocked down a pair of three pointers for the Wildcats. The Pride answered with a quick 7-0 run on a pair of baskets by Janaya Bradley and a triple from Emilee Marro, before Bay Path's Briana Kujawski (Webster, Mass.) ended the run with a freethrow line jumper to make it a 13-8 game with 16 minutes to play in the first half.

The Pride turned up the defense and rattled off a 21-2 run over the next five-plus minutes, capped off by a Linsay Bumila (Raynham, Mass.) layup that staked Regis to a 34-10 lead and prompted a Wildcats timeout. The Regis lead would get as large as 33 in the opening period and Regis took a 58-26 advantage into the break.

Janaya Bradley went a perfect 7-for-7 from the field in the stanza en route to 15 points to lead Regis. Brittany Stone added nine points in the opening frame, while Marro and Mikayla Murphy chipped in eight points apiece. The Wildcats were paced by 10 points from Kaylee Herring, with Briana Kujawski adding nine of her own.

The Pride opened the second half on a 14-2 run and never looked back; building leads in excess of 68 points in the victory.

After shooting 61.5% (24-of-39) in the opening period, Regis kept up the hot shooting, going 21-for-40 (52.5%) in the second half to finish the game at 57% (45-of-79) from the field. The Pride won the rebounding battle 58-24, and held an 11-20 advantage in turnovers, scoring 29 points off Bay Path missteps.

Bay Path's Kujawski ended the night with 15 points and Kaylee Herring joined her in double figures with 11 points and five rebounds. Frankie Wauneka (Easthampton, Mass.) added six points and five rebounds for the visitors.

Linsay Bumila added nine points and seven rebounds off the bench for Regis, while Taylor Bunkley (Carmel, N.Y.) and Sinead Dacko (Holbrook, Mass.) chipped in eight points apiece. 12 of the 13 players who checked into the game for Regis registered at least one field goal.

Both teams are back in action on Thursday as the Crimson and Gold travel to Becker College for a 6:00 p.m. meeting with the Hawks. Bay Path looks for its first win of the year when they travel to Newbury College for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
