PRIDE BLANKED BY MORAVIAN AND #10 TRINE

CLERMONT, Fla. - The Regis College softball team closed out their Spring Break trip in Florida with a pair of non-conference losses to Moravian and #10 Trine on Friday. The Pride fell in the day's opener to Moravian (5-1), 11-0 and were later shut out by Trine (8-1), 17-0 in their second game of the day.

Junior Kelsey Morton (Lowell, Mass.) and sophomore Katie Cuozzo (Lynn, Mass.) led the Pride with one hit apiece in the loss to the Greyhounds. Cuozzo and Sam Bliss (Framingham, Mass.) shared pitching duties for Regis, pitching 4.0 innings and 1.0 innings, respectively. Cuozzo gave up 11 runs, eight earned in the losing effort. Bliss had one strike out in the game.

Game two was much of the same story, as the Pride struggled to generate offense against nationally ranked Trine. Freshman Jenna Casello (Westborough, Mass.) paced the Crimson & Gold with two hits in the loss.

Sophomore Marissa Magarian (Goffstown, N.H.) pitched 3.1 innings before she was relieved by classmate Kirbie Garvey (Littleton, Mass.). Magarian let up 14 runs, 12 of which were earned. Garvey gave up the remaining three runs by the Thunder, none of which were earned. She also struck out one batter in the process.

After a 2.5 week break, the Pride (0-7) return to action back in the Bay State with a double-header against Mount Ida on March 25. Games are scheduled for 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.
