REGIS COLLEGE HELD SCORELESS VERSUS ENDICOTT

WESTON, Mass.—Jenna Bortolotti (Milton, Mass./Milton) pitched a no-hitter Saturday to helpd Endicott College (8-4, 2-0 TCCC) to two The Commonwealth Coast Conference wins. Endicott defeated Regis College (1-14, 0-4 TCCC) 11-0 in game one, and 12-0 in game two. Both games ended in five innings.

Bortolotti faced 15 batters and threw five strikeouts. Teammate Kayla Carignan (Laconia, N.H./Laconia) finished the second game in five innings having faced 18 batters, and allowing just four hits.

Kara Donovan (Woburn, Mass./Arlington Catholic) Kendra Abram (Acushnet, Mass./Bishop Connolly), Hope Benjamin (Rochester, Mass./Old Rochester Regional), and Alex Manavas (Montville, Conn./Montville) had Regis’ only hits of the second game.

Jennie Lacolla (Stoneham, Mass./Stoneham) had nine runs batted in for Endicott, and went 4-for-4 in game one and 3-for-4 in game two. Lacolla had four doubles and a homerun for the day. She also finished with five runs scored. Ashley Wright (Merrimack, N.H./Trinity) had six putouts defensively.

Offensively, Wright went 3-for-4 in both games, scoring a total of four runs, and finished with three RBIs.

Jocelyn Russo (Middletown, Conn./Mercy) contributed three RBIs in game one on 2-for-4 at the plate, and scored two runs.

As a team, Endicott had 33 at bats in game one, two fewer (31) in game two, and left a total of 14 players on base. Just two batters were struck-out in the two games. Offensively, the team scored an average of 7.5 runs in the first three innings.

Endicott scored six runs in the first inning of game two versus Regis’ Sarah Porteus (South Wellfleet, Mass./Nauset), and six runs in the third inning of game one against Abram.

Abram and Porteus each struck out a batter and gave up at walk. Abram faced 34 batters and allowed 14 hits. Porteus faced 33 batters and allowed 12 hits.

Benjamin had 15 putouts for Regis. Rachel Cavella (West Roxbury, Mass./Fontbonne Academy) followed with six putouts, and had two assists. Manavas and Christine O’Toole (Wareham, Mass./Wareham) also had two assists in game one.

Regis College will travel to Salve Regina (March 27) before returning home on March 30 to face the University of New England. Endicott will face Anna Maria (March 29) at 3:00 PM.
