Men’s Cross Country Finishes Sixth at GNAC Championships

STANDISH, Maine – The Regis College men's cross country team participated in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine, finishing sixth in the nine-team field.

JJ Pedersen (Milford, Conn.) finished in sixth place in the field of 89 runners, completing the eight-kilometer course in a time of 27:38. Pedersen earned First-Team All-GNAC honors for the first time in his career by finishing within the top seven.

Christian Hendricks (Edgewater, Md.) was the second member of the Pride to cross the finish line, placing 25th with a time of 29:30. This marked a personal best for Hendricks on an 8K course, shaving 4.2 seconds off his time from the Keene State Invitational at the beginning of the month.

AJ Corso (Broad Brook, Conn.) finished shortly after Hendricks, running a 6:13 per mile pace on his way to finishing in 30:51, while Gustavo Novelle-Ruddy (Boston, Mass.) finished the race in 32:45. Jacob O'Neal (New Britain, Conn.) completed the course in 33:21 with Noah Ryan (Stockton, Calif.) finishing right behind him in 33:37.

Michael Carroll (Lynn, Mass.) and Ben O'Neal (New Britain, Conn.) rounded out the day for the Pride runners, completing the meet with times of 34:16 and 36:16, respectively.

The Pride compiled 159 points in the meet, finishing 24 points behind fifth place Emmanuel. Colby-Sawyer earned the conference title with 56 points, winning their second consecutive GNAC title on the men's side, edging out Norwich who received 59 points. Matyas Csiki-Fejer of Suffolk was the individual champion, finishing the race in 26:40.

Regis will begin preparations for the NCAA New England Regional Championships hosted by Bowdoin College Saturday, Nov. 16, with races beginning at 11 a.m.
