Pride Finish Season at NCAA Regional

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Regis College men's cross country team concluded its season at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships, hosted by Bowdoin College at the Pickard Field Cross Country Course early Saturday afternoon. 

Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.) helped pace the Pride, finishing in 167th place with a time of 28:16.07 on the eight-kilometer course. Sematimba set a new personal record in the process. 

The Pride's Shane Romanchick (Trumbull, Conn.) would finish with a time of 29:28.45, averaging a time of 5:56 per mile. Nicholas Sahagian (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) would finish a couple seconds later, crossing the finish line with a time of 29:30.39, earning his best time of the season. 

Henry Walker (Brookline, Mass.) would end the year posting a time of 29:49.84, a new personal record. Christian Hendricks (Edgewater, Md.) finished with a time of 30:10.17, followed by Gustavo Novelle-Ruddy (Boston, Mass.), who finished less than three seconds later with a time of 30:13.04. 

The Pride compiled a total of 1165 points to earn 38th place out of the 58-team field. Amherst won the regional title as a team with 65 points, followed by Williams with 86 points. Sam Brunnette of Plymouth State took the individual title in 24:55.97, less than a second ahead of Bates's James Jones. 

Most of the members of the Regis men's cross country team will move on to the indoor track and field season, with competition starting in December.
