Cross Country Teams Compete At Codfish Bowl In Boston

BOSTON - Molly Curtin (Brockton, Mass.) raced to a Top 15 finish to highlight the Regis (Mass.) men's and women's cross country teams at the Codfish Bowl held at Franklin Park on Saturday.

Curtin ran the women's 5K in 20:24 good for 14th place overall out of a field of 183 runners. The time was just over a minute behind winner Jessie Cardin from Westfield State (19:00).

Maggie Mann (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) was the next Regis finisher at 26th (20:39) and Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) came in with a 40th-place finish at 21:10 to round out the top three for the Pride.

The men's 8K saw JJ Pederson (Milford, Conn.) lead the pack for the Pride, placing 40th with a time of 29:11. Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.) was the second Regis finisher at No. 51 (29:37) and Shane Romanchick (Trumbull, Conn.) crossed the tape moments later at 54th overall (29:46).

Matt Jacobson of Dirigo RC won the race with a top time of 26:30.

Overall the Pride finished ahead of Emmanuel among GNAC opponents in both races.

Both Pride teams will have next weekend off before returning to competition Saturday, Oct. 7. The Pride will take part in the James Earley Invitational held in Wesfield, Mass.
