WESTON, Mass. – Three players reached double-digits in kills as Regis College defeated Anna Maria College, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's volleyball action in Weston, Mass. The Pride (6-5) used set scores of 25-18, 25-23, 25-27, and 25-16 in the win over the AMCATS (0-3).

Sean Bisnett (Oxnard, Calif.) led all players with a double-double of 14 kills and 10 digs on the day, while Joe Coye (Plaistow, N.H.) was right behind him with 13 kills. Jon Fuentes (Downey, Calif.) added 11 kills for the Pride, and Zach Sindoni (Haverhill, Mass.) had 41 assists, five digs and three blocks in the win. Manny Calderon (Bristol, Conn.) led the Pride defense with four blocks.

For Anna Maria, Jonathan Gallardo (Marlborough, Mass.) posted 13 kills and had three blocks, while Dylan Copeland (Haverhill, Mass.) added six kills and four digs. Michael Gaudelli (Hicksville, N.Y.) and Ty Discoe (Pittsfield, Mass.) each had four kills in the setback. Gaudelli also led the AMCATS with 25 assists and had nine digs.

In the opening set, Regis build a 16-7 lead following a Manny Calderon service ace and later led 19-11 after a Bisnett kill. Anna Maria would not go away as a Michael Goncalves (Milford, Mass.) kill and a Pride error cut the deficit to only six. With the Pride leading 22-14, the AMCATS took advantage of back-to-back Pride errors and used a kill from Dylan Copeland to make it a 22-17 game. It was too little too late, however, as Coye and Fuentes ended the game with two-straight kills to grab the 25-18 win.

In the second set, Regis held a late 21-13 lead following a Calderon kill that forced an Anna Maria timeout. The AMCATS used the break in action to go on a 9-2 run with kills from Copeland, Gallardo, and Gaudelli and a block by Gallardo and Gaudelli to climb back into the game and make it a 23-22 score. Sean Bisnett ended the run with a kill, but Gallardo answered right back with one of his own to make it 24-23. The Anna Maria comeback would fall short however as an AMCAT service error gave the Pride the deciding point, 25-23.

The third game started much the same as the Pride held an 18-12 lead midway through the third set. Three quick points by Anna Maria cut the deficit to three, and the two teams traded points until it was 23-19 following a Joe Coye kill. The AMCATS scored the next five points on a pair of Pride errors as well as two Ty Discoe service aces to take a 24-23 lead and force a Regis timeout.

Bisnett extended the game with a kill, but Gallardo answered to keep AMC on top 25-24. An Anna Maria service error tied the game at 25-all, and this time Peter Griffenkranz (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Gaudelli closed out the set for the AMCATS with two-straight kills to force a fourth game with the 27-25 win.

Set four began as a back-and-forth battle, but an AMCATS service error and a Sindoni block gave the Pride a 9-4 lead. Anna Maria answered with two quick points, but the Pride rattled off a 10-4 run to take a commanding 19-10 lead. Gallardo and Goncalves ended the stretch, but Regis scored the next five points to take a 24-12 lead. With their backs against the wall, Anna Maria scored four-straight points of their own to claw back into the game, but another Anna Maria service error gave the Pride a 25-16 win in the fourth game to give Regis the 3-1 victory.

The Crimson and Gold return to action on Wednesday night when they return to New England Collegiate Conference action at Daniel Webster at 7:00 p.m. Anna Maria continues the search for the program's first win on Tuesday night when the AMCATS travel to Lesley University for an 8:00 p.m. match.
