PRIDE FALL TO SVC, LASELL TO OPEN 2014

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Regis College men's volleyball team dropped its opening two matches of the 2014 season on day one of the Johnson & Wales University Tip-Off Tournament on Friday night. The Pride dropped their opening match, 3-1, to Southern Vermont in a New England Collegiate Conference match, and followed that up with a 3-0 setback to Lasell.

Regis dropped the opening set, 26-24 to the Mountaineers before rebounding in the second set, 25-19. Southern Vermont answered in the third set with a 25-13 win, and rounded out the match with a 25-20 win in the fourth and final game.

Sean Bisnett (Oxnard, Calif.) posted a team-high 13 kills and added five digs for the Pride. Zach Sindoni (Haverhill, Mass.) posted nine kills and added five digs and four blocks in his first collegiate match, while Joe Coye (Plaistow, N.H.) added eight kills and three blocks. Joe Hanrahan (Coventry, R.I.) dished out 17 assists, and Angel Aguilar (Silver Spring, Md.) had six assists for Regis.

In the second match of the day, Coye led the Pride with eight digs, while Bisnett added seven kills. Sindoni and Manny Calderon (Bristol, Conn.) had four kills apiece. Aguilar added five more digs, while Hanrahan dished out nine more assists.

The Pride are back in action at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday when they take on host Johnson & Wales. They follow that up with a 12:00 p.m. matchup with Keuka.
