NIGHTHAWKS FLY PAST REGIS, 3-0

BROOKLINE, Mass. – Regis College suffered a 3-0 setback to Newbury College on Saturday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference men's volleyball action in Brookline, Mass. The Pride drop to 1-14 overall and 0-9 in the NECC, while Newbury pushes its record to 6-9 overall and 4-3 in league play.

Newbury's Jarryl McKey (Brooklyn, N.Y.) paved the way to the victory, registering an impressive .636 attack percentage with eight kills on 11 attempts with just one error.

McKey set the tone of the match notching three kills on five attempts to help the Nighthawks jump out in front early taking the first set, 25-10. Sophomore setter Cody Braden (Fair Grove, Mo.) was the sparkplug on offense recording eight assists en route to the set victory.

Regis tried valiantly to mount a comeback in the second set, leading by three, 13-10, midway through the game but the Nighthawks responded. Senior outside hitter Danny Kim (Plainview, N.Y.) sparked a 7-1 run with three straight service aces to grab a 17-14 lead and they never looked back, climbing one set for the match victory.

Newbury sealed the sweep with a 25-10 victory in the third set. McKey continued to stay hot notching three kills on as many attempts with one solo block while first year middle blocker Angel Ayala (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) also recorded three kills in the victory.

Despite the loss, Regis outside hitter Andrew Carroll (Natick Mass.) led the Pride with a team-high five kills, while senior outside hitter Si Pan Leong (Boston, Mass.) added four kills and four digs. David Amicangioli (Belmont, Mass.) added 13 assists, while Chris Tran (Quincy, Mass.) notched a match-high 16 digs in the setback.

Regis returns to action on Wednesday night as the Pride hosts Daniel Webster in an NECC match scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
