Personal Records Fall at Snowflake Classic

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Regis College men's track and field team saw several personal records fall Saturday at the Snowflake Classic hosted by Tufts University.

Daniel LaFlamme (Watertown, Conn.) registered a throw of 13.12 meters in the shot put. LaFlamme finished fourth with two of his teammates joining him in the top half of the field, as Frank Pelleteri (Freeport, Maine) and Alex Hlywa (Southbury, Conn.) placed eighth and 15th respectively.

LaFlamme again led the Pride throwers in the discus with a distance of 33.91 meters. Pelleteri would finish with a distance of 27.47 meters in the event.

Nicholas Pastore (Norwood, Mass.) finished in the top 20 in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.66 seconds, and he also ran the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.63. Three runners placed in the 10,000 meter run for the Pride: Shane Romanchick (Trumbull, Conn.) finished with a time of 37:29.21, Nicholas Sahagian (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) crossed the finish in 37:50.04, and Gustavo Novelle-Ruddy (Boston, Mass.) rounded out the trio with a time of 38:40.11 in the taxing event.

A time of 2:14.49 closed out JJ Pedersen's (Milford, Conn.) 800 meter race, plus he would also finish with a time of 4:37.89 in the 1500 meter run. Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.) would run in the 5000 meter run, posting a time of 17:02.46.

The Pride compiled a total of six points, placing 17th in the meet.  Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute finished first with a point total of 157.50, while Tufts would finish second compiling 151 points.

The Pride track and field squad will be back in action next Friday, Apr. 5 when they host the Regis Spring Classic at Regis Stadium beginning at 2:30 p.m.
