LaFlamme and Walker Break Records at Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass. – Two members of the Regis College men's track and field team broke school records Saturday afternoon at the Branwen Smith-King Invitational, hosted by Tufts University.

In the weight throw, Daniel LaFlamme (Watertown, Conn.) broke his own school record for the third time in as many weeks with a throw of 14.84 meters. Cole Anderson (Falmouth, Maine) finished just outside the top 10 after marking a distance of 13.79 meters on his attempt.

The shot put saw Frank Pelleteri (Freeport, Maine) lead the Pride, posting a distance of 12.44 meters on his throw, landing in 17th place. LaFlamme would be behind him in 21st with a throw of 12.22 meters, followed by Anderson at 12.08 meters and Mark Dumas, who broke his personal record, marked a 12-meter throw as they both would land in the top 25.

In the 1000 meter run, Henry Walker (Brookline, Mass.) would break the school record that was broken earlier this season by his teammate Sean Toomey (Salem, N.H.), running the race in 2:43.76. Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.) finished in the top 15, posting a time of 2:50.03.

The 400 meter dash would see both Christian Hendricks (Edgewater, Md.) and Nazih Lewis (Trenton, N.J.) break their personal records. Hendricks finished the race in 1:29.70, while Lewis posted a time of 1:48.05.

The 60 meter dash saw Nicholas Pastore (Norwood, Mass.) make it to the semifinals where he marked a time of 7.49 seconds.

Tufts would win the meet compiling a total of 121 points, while Stonehill would finish 14 points behind them in second with 107. Regis would place 19th, getting both points in the weight throw.

The Pride will travel to Plymouth State next Saturday, Feb. 2, when they compete in the Panther Invitational.
