Men's Track Picked to Win GNAC Championship, Women Second

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) men's track and field team has been chosen to win the first ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship, while the women's team finished in second. The results of the Track & Field Coaches Poll, listed in full below, were announced by the conference office on Thursday morning.

The Regis men picked up three of a possible five first place votes to finish atop the poll with 23 points. Emmanuel picked up the other two first place votes to finish in second with 20 points. On the women's side, Emmanuel was selected atop the poll with three first place votes to finish with 23 points as well. The Pride was just behind the Saints with the last two first place votes for 22 points. 

Regis is set to host the inaugural Great Northeast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships this Sunday, April 29 at Regis Stadium, with events getting underway at 10:00 AM from Weston, Mass. The event will feature the GNAC's five track & field programs: Emmanuel College, Lasell College, Regis, Saint Joseph's College of Maine and Suffolk University. 

Regis Athletics plans to broadcast a live stream of the event, which can be viewed at thegnac.tv or on one of the GNAC's four custom digital streaming apps. There will also be live stats for the event. Be sure to follow @TheGNAC and @GoRegisPride on Twitter for additional updates. 

The top GNAC finisher in each event will automatically earn 2018 All-Conference honors, and an event ceremony honoring the team champions and individual GNAC winners will take place following the conclusion of competition.
