Maddie Boucias Sets School Record In 800 Meter At Collier Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) set a new school record in the 800 meter (2:29.99) to highlight a solid showing for both the Regis (Mass.) men's and women's track and field teams Saturday at the Sean Collier Invitational hosted by MIT at Morrison Track.

Women's throws featured a handful of top 10 finishes in both the discus and shot put.In the discus, Kate Cowden (Wilmington, Mass.) placed second, Elisabeth Cooke (East Longmeadow, Mass.) fourth and Liz Ksepka (Calais, Vt.) seventh. Four Pride entries in the shot put placed in the top 10 led by Elliana Boebel (Bedford, Mass.) who placed second followed by Cowden (3rd), Ksepka (4th) and Cooke (7th).

Adding to Boucias' record time on the track, Fatima St. Hilaire (Danvers, Mass.) placed seventh in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:03.58. Abby Flaherty (Millbury, Mass.) was close behind with a time of 1:04.37. Payton Fitzgerald (Danielson, Conn.), Cassie Froio (Tewksbury, Mass.), and Dee Patel (Framingham, Mass.) also competed in the event. 

Shelagh O'Neil (Tyngsboro, Mass.) ran a personal best time of 1:16.62 in the 400 meter hurdles and the women's 4x400 meter relay team placed sixth with a time of 4:25.51.

Regis placed three in the top 10 of the men's discus throw. Dan LaFlamme (Watertown, Conn.) placed fifth with a new personal best of 38.53 meters with Taylor Garner (Richmond, Vt.) placing eighth and Dex Jeanty (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) placed ninth. 

LaFlamme also took seventh in the shot put. 

Matthew Malone (West Roxbury, Mass.) placed fourth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.18. Malone also competed in the long jump posting a mark of 5.65 meters. 

In other men's track events, Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.) ran 2:07.05 in the 800 meter run and Sean Toomey (Salem, N.H.), JJ Pedersen (Milford, Conn.), Nicholas Sahagian Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Kyle Gillen-Hughes (Reading, Mass.), and Shane Romanchick (Trumbull, Conn.) competed in the 1500 meter. Fred Mathieu (Miami, Fla.) competed in the 100 meter dash as well.

 

Next up for the Pride is the inaugural Great Northeast Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships on Sunday, Apr. 29 hosted at the Regis Track & Field Complex.
