WILLIAMANTIC, Conn. - The Regis (Mass.) track and field teams showcased a handful of top 10 places in the field events and set a new program record in the women's 4x100 meter dash to highlight a solid showing at the ECSU Invitational on Saturday.
The Pride placed three athletes in the top 10 in the women's discus. Kate Cowden took second (37.05 meters), Elisabeth Cooke third (34.80 meters) and Liz Ksepka fourth (33.15 meters). Elliana Boebel took 11th in the event.
Three of the aforementioned throwers and placed in the top 10 of the shot put. Boebel placed third (10.82 meters), Ksepka fourth (10.62 meters) and Cooke fifth (9.74 meters).
Bernice Boateng won the women's 100 meter dash with a time of 13.09. Cassie Froio also competed in the event, placing fifth with a personal best time of 13.39 seconds. Payton Fitzgerald placed seventh with a time of 13.62.
The women's 4x100 meter relay broke the 12 year school record with a time of 52.16. The relay included Fitzgerald, Froio, Boateng and Nyah Webb. Boateng added a sixth place finish in the 200 meter dash (27.86 seconds)
Maddie Boucias came in fourth in the women's 1500 meter run with a time of 5:09.80 with Rachel Kelly placing eighth in the women's 800 meter run with a time of 2:39.62. Webb placed sixth in the long jump with a new personal best of 4.58 meters.
On the men's side, Matt Malone won the men's 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.85. He also placed sixth in the 400 meter hurdles (1:02.06).
Regis also placed four athletes in the top 10 in men's discus. Taylor Garner placed third with a new personal best throw of 39.38 meters, Cole Anderson placed fourth (39.20 meters), Dan LaFlamme eighth (35.42 meters), Dexter Jeanty ninth (31.78 meters) and Frank Pelleteri 11th.
LaFlamme also placed fourth in the men's hammer with a throw of 35.16 meters. Pelleteri placed sixth with a throw of 34.94 meters.
Jovan Sematimba placed fourth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:27.55.
In the 800 meter, Sean Toomey placed sixth (2:06.2) with Kyle Gillen-Hughes placing 12th with a time of 2:08.72.
Jon Pedersen added a silver finish in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16.49.07.
